Roots to Restaurants, founded in the Greater Seattle area in spring 2024, emerged from a personal journey during one of my therapy sessions. This pivotal moment inspired me to create a media company that champions food-centric, human-interest storytelling through photos, videos, and mini-documentaries. With a deep passion for discovering local eateries, both in Seattle and while traveling, I combined my expertise in photography and videography to build a brand that celebrates food and the people behind it.

I often get asked why an onion as a logo.... For me, it symbolizes my love for multilayered visual storytelling. Just as an onion has many layers, our approach to storytelling peels back the surface to reveal the rich, intricate stories behind every dish and establishment. Roots to Restaurants captures the essence of local food culture, focusing on farm-to-table dining and the unique narratives of chefs, restaurateurs, and farmers.

  • Favorite dishes: My mama's caramelized onion salmon pasta, my partner Nick's surprise meals, fried chicken sammies, and fish tacos.
  • I was born abroad in Cape Town, South Africa.
  • I absolutely loathe baked potatoes— a tale for another time.
  • Solo car dance parties are a daily must - the music is a wide variety.
  • Travel fuels my spirit, and Edinburgh has a special place in my heart.
  • COVID and the Great British Bake Off sparked a cake-baking hobby, and now I make them for loved ones’ birthdays and celebrations.
  • Dogs are life. Future fur dad? Absolutely. Oh, and I adore cows!
